Week of November 4-7


  • I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
  • There will be no school on Friday, Nov. 8th due to parent teacher interviews.  The interviews also run on Thursday evening so be sure that you go to the school web page and sign up.
  • Please be sure that the students are reading 20  min. each evening.
  • We have moved from adding and subtracting 4 digit numbers and have now started learning about fractions.  I told the students the math homework I am expecting is for them to work on their multiplication facts to 81 for 10 min.
  • Students are finishing up their story writing next week and we will be moving on with our descriptive writing.
  • Have a great week and I am looking forward to seeing everyone at interviews.

Week of Oct.28-Nov. 1

*  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
* I did not give our spelling quiz today because I wanted to do a few more activities with our spelling principle...long a,e,and i.  I will give the quiz Thursday of this week. 
* We had our adding/subtracting of 4 digit numbers quiz on Friday. These will be handed back on Tuesday. Please sign and return.
*The students have been working hard on writing narrative stories and will be finishing them up soon.  We will then move into the text form of descriptive writing.
* We will have a few fun activities on Thursday for Halloween.  There will be a "haunted" change room and a dance for the last half hour of the day.
*Students should be completing their nightly reading of 20 min.
*There should soon be an interview sign up on the school website.
*I do not expect the students to do any homework on Halloween night!  Have a safe and fantastic   time.

Week of October 7-10


  • There will be no school on Friday, Oct. 11th due to a PD day.
  • Picture day will be on Tuesday, Oct. 15th.
  • Mrs. Ramsay sent home a calendar with some upcoming events for the month of October.  The next being crazy hair day on Oct. 10th and fancy day on Oct. 18th.
  • Thank you for signing and returning math quizzes.  We are working on adding and subtracting 4 digit numbers to 10 000 now. It is very imp. to continue to keep working on their nightly math adding and subtracting facts.
  • The gr. 4's good copy of their recount writing will be due on Oct. 9th.
  • Our health posters are due on Oct. 10th.
  • Keep up the nightly reading for 20 min each evening.  I am very proud of how they are reading at independent reading time!
  • Book orders will be sent in on Wed., Oct. 9th.

Week of Sept. 30- Oct.4


  • I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
  • The students have started to settle into our routines here at school.  We have been working very hard on being active listeners and knowing when and how to contribute their thoughts and ideas to the class.  I am proud of them!
  • The students wrote a math quiz on Thursday and I will be sending them home this week.  Please sign it and return to school with your child.  This week we will be starting adding and subtracting of 4 digit numbers, so the nightly fact practice is very important.
  • I hope all of the students have been enjoying their nightly reading books.  The expectation is that they are reading 20 min. a night.  Please let me know if your son/daughter is having trouble with their books.
  • Spelling quiz will be going home, please sign and return.
  • The book order came in last week!  The students were very excited!  I will be sending the October book order home mid-week.
  • Super effort on behalf of our students for the Terry Fox walk/run on Thursday afternoon.

Week of Sept. 23-26


  • I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
  • I am hoping that book orders will arrive today.  The students have been patiently waiting!
  • I would ask that the students continue to read 20 min. nightly and record in their reading duotang.
  • We will be starting our weekly spelling list this week.  Monday morning the students copy the words into their agendas and we complete some word work throughout the week with these words.  There will be a quiz at the end of the week.  
  • Keep practicing those nightly math facts. We will be having a quiz on Thur. on outcome N1 and N2 which is representing numbers to 10 000 and comparing and ordering numbers to 10 000.
  • Hat day will be on Wed. Students are asked to bring a toonie for Terry in support of our Terry Fox run/walk on Thursday afternoon.
  • There will be no school on Friday, Sept. 27 for students due to a PD day.

Week of Sept. 16-20


  • Book orders are due Mon. Sept. 16th. Thank you to those who ordered on line or sent them in.  They usually take about a week to come.
  • I will be starting to send home the reading duotangs on Monday.  Please have your child read for 20 min. They need to copy down the title.  We have been discussing what books they want to start reading at home and some have decided that they want to continue reading a book that they are reading in class which is great!  
  • I will be sending home a fact review sheet on Monday for nightly practice of adding and subtracting facts.  5-10 min would be awesome!
  • Hot lunches are up and running!

Welcome Back!


  • Welcome back everyone!  I can hardly believe that summer is over and we are back to school.  I am so excited to see everyone tom. morning!
